It is good common sense to check with the Registrar of Contractors before hiring any contractor. Verify that their license is current and that their bonds are up-to-date. You may also request from the contractor certificates of insurance to insure that the contractor carries sufficient liability insurance as well as workers compensation insurance on their workers.
